DEVOUR Feed And Grow How to Play / Getting Started
Your first-hour plan for eating, growing, and surviving Roblox’s multiplayer ocean food chain.
DEVOUR Feed And Grow (on Roblox as DEVOUR Eat Fish & Ocean Animals by Elasmonian Games) is a multiplayer ocean survival game released in June 2026. You begin as a small creature, eat what you can safely take, grow without a hard size ceiling, unlock stronger predators, and climb a living food chain that includes both AI prey and other players.
This getting-started guide is the onboarding page for the wiki. When you finish it, continue with Controls, How to Grow Fast, Zone Routes, How to Unlock Predators, PvP Food Chain Tips, How to Become Apex, and How to Survive THE DEEP. For the full directory, return to the Guides Hub.
What you are trying to do
Every successful session follows the same loop:
- Find food you can actually eat.
- Grow large enough to open safer routes and stronger predator options.
- Choose a zone that matches your current size and confidence.
- Avoid becoming food for bigger players while you hunt.
- Push toward apex creatures only when your size and escape options justify the risk.
There is no single “win button.” The ocean rewards clean decisions more than frantic swimming. If you chase every bite in contested water, you stall. If you never contest anything, you grow too slowly to unlock predators before stronger players dominate the server.
First five minutes
Treat the opening minutes as a tutorial you give yourself.
Learn the feel of movement. Open Controls if camera or bite timing feels awkward. On both PC and mobile, comfort matters more than fancy tricks early on.
Feed on low-risk targets. Start in or near the reef, where food density is easier to read and escape angles are shorter. Your job is not to look impressive; your job is to stop being fragile.
Watch the silhouette hierarchy. Anything clearly larger than you is a threat until proven otherwise. Anything clearly smaller is potential growth. Same-size encounters are judgment calls — and in multiplayer, judgment calls get people eaten.
Leave bad water early. If two bigger predators orbit the same bait cluster, rotate. Early deaths teach the map, but repeated early deaths teach nothing if you keep returning to the same death corner.
The three zones at a glance
Reef
The reef is the best classroom. Food is closer together, landmarks are easier to remember, and you can practice approach angles without committing to long open-water chases. New players should spend most of their first session here until growth feels automatic.
Open ocean
The open ocean is where confident hunters accelerate. Distances are longer, pursuits last longer, and player fights become more common because there is less cover. Move here after you can win most reef matchups and recover from a miss without panic. How to Grow Fast has route ideas for this transition.
THE DEEP
THE DEEP is the high-stakes layer. It is not a beginner shortcut. Enter only when you understand retreat paths, predator pressure, and how quickly a chase can end a strong run. Read How to Survive THE DEEP before treating the dark water as your farm.
Eat to grow — the core rule
DEVOUR markets a simple fantasy: eat to grow with no size limit. In practice that means your ceiling is skill, patience, and server pressure rather than a fixed max level. Bigger size improves your hunting options and your predator unlock path, but it also makes you a more valuable target for other players.
Use growth as a resource, not a vanity score:
- Grow enough to unlock the next predator rung you actually want.
- Grow enough to travel between zones without constant fear.
- Do not grow “blindly” into THE DEEP just because a pack of players is headed there.
Predator unlocks are covered in detail in How to Unlock Predators. The short version for beginners: unlock when you can use the new predator, not the moment the option appears while you are still panicking in reef corners.
Multiplayer reality check
This is online multiplayer. Other players are part of the ecosystem. Some will ignore you. Some will farm the same bait lane. Some will wait above a food cluster specifically for a growing fish to get greedy. PvP Food Chain Tips explains baiting, disengage rules, and when to turn a chase around.
For your first sessions, adopt three multiplayer habits:
- Never feed with your back to open water if you cannot see who is behind you.
- Never finish a contested bite if a larger player is already committed to the same target.
- Never assume a nearby player is friendly just because they have not attacked yet.
First-hour checklist
Use this as a practical success bar for day one:
- Comfortable with your Controls on your device.
- Survived long enough in the reef to feel growth acceleration.
- Identified at least one safe food lane and one escape lane.
- Transitioned briefly into open ocean without dying immediately.
- Reviewed which predator unlock is your next real goal.
- Read the PvP page so contested bites do not surprise you.
- Bookmarked How to Survive THE DEEP for later — not necessarily for tonight.
Common beginner mistakes
Rushing THE DEEP. Dark water looks like endgame content because it is. Arriving under-sized turns a strong fantasy into a short highlight reel for someone else.
Ignoring lateral escapes. New players swim only forward or only up. Practice sideways exits around reef structure so one missed bite does not trap you against a wall of teeth.
Chasing every player fight. Early PvP can be useful practice, but dying for pride resets growth. Pick fights you can finish.
Forgetting the Guides Hub path. When you get stuck, return to the Guides Hub and jump to the exact skill gap — grow speed, predator unlocks, controls, PvP, or THE DEEP — instead of repeating the same unfocused session.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is DEVOUR Feed And Grow free to play on Roblox?
Yes. Join the Roblox experience DEVOUR Eat Fish & Ocean Animals by Elasmonian Games. Some cosmetics or extras may exist in the store, but the core eat-to-grow multiplayer loop is available in the live game.
Where should beginners start: reef, open ocean, or THE DEEP?
Start in the reef. Move to open ocean after growth feels stable. Save THE DEEP until you have size, escape habits, and a plan from the dedicated deep-survival guide.
Is there a size limit in DEVOUR?
The game highlights eat-to-grow with no size limit. Your practical limits are skill, food access, predator unlocks, and multiplayer pressure — not a hard advertised max size.
Can other players eat me?
Yes. DEVOUR is online multiplayer food-chain PvP. Larger players can hunt you, and you can hunt smaller players once you outgrow them.
What should I read after Getting Started?
Read Controls, then How to Grow Fast, then How to Unlock Predators. Add PvP Food Chain Tips and How to Survive THE DEEP as your sessions get longer and riskier.
